Family Dollar Fabulous for the Summer!!

Right now its the spring time and before you know it the summer season will be upon us!
In anticipation of the summertime, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite summertime items that I get from another one of my favorite stores for fabulous affordable beauty and fashion, the one and only Family Dollar.

Here are a few of my favorite Spring to Summer Fashion & Beauty Must Haves! First of all the clothing line Just Be is a staple in the women department at Family Dollar stores. Their line is fashionable, affordable and provides trendy and unique options for women of all sizes.

Here is a cream lace strapless maxi dress that is great for any summer outside event ($15). If cream isn't your color, they also carry this piece in a beautiful coral. They also have great deals on cute and trendy sandals that can be paired with either color.

Here is another maxi dress that is light and trendy for the season that comes in other colors ($15). I paired it with a turquoise necklace to make the colors pop. Make sure you visit Just Be and your local Family Dollar stores for more from this fashion line.

While I love fashions, I also feeling fresh and smelling good. My favorite silky feeling bath products are these 2 Tone body washes for $3

These beauty products are also a few of my faves from LA Colors. They are affordable and give us ladies some fancy options that will have you sitting pretty for the summer season.

Thrifting Princess - OOTD (Outfit of the Day)

If you know anything about me, you know I love to thrift! I have been thrifting about 2 years now and almost all my outfits are majority thrifted. The only thing I do not thrift is my undergarments lol

I just recently began to thrift shoes and I haven't looked back since! Have you checked in our one of the Thrifting Twittter I hosted with the Naturally Connected crew? If you go to your twitter, you can visit the hashtag #thriftingprincess or #naturallyconnected and you will see so many great conversations about thrifting or other conversations that we have had during 2015!

Here is an outfit I pieced together a few weeks back and I was so impressed with how good it looked! I am realizing that you have to be able to embrace layering and having an open mind to how your oufit can turn out. I think I did pretty well this day.

The shirt has an embellished collar and since the shirt is sheer, I added the jean vest as an additional layer. I also rocked thrifted jeans and a pair of nude wedges.

Share with me....What are your favorite items to thrift?

Curls for Days!

One of the things I did last year (2015) with my natural hair was to CUT MY HAIR!! My hair was at bra strap length and I was having the worst days and completely dreaded washing and twisting all them curls!!!

I went to my natural hair stylist, Deshonica Kerrie, whom I trust completely with my hair, and asked her to cut it for me. I brought a photograph with me and she made my hair look even better than the photo! lol

When I first made the decision to cut my hair, I was going through so many emotions as far as styling my natural hair. Initially it seems like there just aren't that many options besides rocking a Wash N Go or a TWA (teeny weeny afro). My hair was too short for bantu knots or flat twists, so I almost thought I was doomed!

This style is a wash and go achieved on an old twist out using Bel Nouvo Coco Castor Pudding

Well I got really creative with natural hair tools and came up with a way to show off my curly hair in a good light even though it was shorter than usual :-) You can always check out the Natural Hair Freedom Instagram page for more inspiration for styling as well as products to use. Here are a few styles that I have conquered with my shorter natural hair, that I have absolutely fallen in love with!

I had my natural hair pressed out for this soft look. I only go to my stylist for pressing out my natural hair, just because I want to make sure that my curls bounce back healthy and in tact! This style last for about a week. It would have lasted longer but it happened to rain all week :-(

This style was achieved by me with several different sizes of perm rods (gray, blue, and orange). The style lasted over a week with minimal upkeep. If the curls got frizzy I just reset them overnight, and they were fresh in the morning. I used Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil shampoo, conditioner, and styling lotion to achieve this style.

I look forward to trying a few new things with my hair in 2016!! Stay tuned!

Thrifting Princess - Outfit of the Day (OOTD)

Man I love thrifting so much and I have literally become addicted to it. I haven't been in a retail store for clothes in over a year! That's pretty amazing to me since I am a curvy girl and I really felt like there just weren't enough thrift store that catered to the plus sized diva.

There really aren't a huge amount of options when you are shopping for sizes 18 and above, but I have gotten much better at the thrifting experience and I try my best to share my favorite stores for other professional plus size fashionistas. I want us all to be and look GREAT everyday, but on an affordable budget lol

Here is an outfit that is completely thrifted except for the shoes which I got from Payless while they were on sale! #stillwinning :-)
